ナノ粒子(サイズ 1~100 nm の粒子)の特性評価は多くの場合、ナノサイズの粒子または界面における光の局在化を応用するものです。この光の局在化は、表面で場の巨大な増強を示します。
ナノ粒子の代表的な例は、複雑なナノ導波路、ナノアパーチャ、ナノ共振器など微細な単一フォトニックコンポーネントです。これらの高解像度検査、材料の局所的変更、高電界集中、強度増強、ラマン散乱など非線形プロセスの効率向上、高調波発生といった実用において、厳密な位置特定が非常に重要です。
バンドギャップ内に配置された半導体材料のナノ粒子は量子ドットと呼ばれます。量子ドット(QD)は、量子力学特性を示すのに十分な大きさの半導体材料で作られたナノ結晶です。量子ドットは、太陽電池、LED、バイオイメージングにおける造影剤などの用途に使用されます。
